 BIOGRAFIA

 

Hijo del legendario actor y cantante country Tex y su mujer Dorothy, Jonathan Southworth Ritter nació en Burbank, California., el 17 de Septiembre de 1948. su hermano Tom se convirtio en abogado, pero John siguió los pasos de su padre. In 1977. John asistió a la Escuela Hollywood High,y posteriormente a la Universidad del sur de California.Mas tarde concurrió a las clases de actuación de Nina Foch. Se graduó en Artes teatrales en 1971.también estudió con Stella Adler en el taller de comedia Harvey Lembeck . Entre 1968 y 1969, apareció en varias obras en Inglaterra, Escocia, Holanda y en Alemania. 

 Su padre falleció en 1973.

SU CARRERA

"Dan August" se llamó la primer serie de tv en la que formó parte del elenco junto a Burt Reynolds and Norman Fell en 1970. En 1971 John tuvo su primera película "The Barefoot Executive". Apareció como invitado en varias series de tv como:  "Hawaii Five-O" (1968, 1971 & '77), "The Streets of San Francisco" (1972). "M*A*S*H" (1973), "Kojak" (1974). Él tuvo también en  "Waltons", de 1972-77 fue el  Reverendo Matthew Fordwick."Starsky and Hutch" (1976). "The Love Boat" (1977).  John fue artista invitado en "The Mary Tyler Moore Show". 

 

   En (1977) actuó en la serie Three's Company .

     "Hooperman" serie emitida desde 1987 a 1989. John        interpretaba al Detective Harry Hooperman.

 

En 1992-95 Ritter volvió a la TV como John Hartman, en "Hearts Afire". Junto a Markie Post como Georgie Anne Lahti y Billy Bob Thorton como Billy Bob Davis. 

Manhood  Ritter está en esta característica dramática. Dirigido por Bobby Roth, Janeane starring Garofalo y Nester Carbonal. Lanzado en el festival 2003 de la película de Sundance. 

 Bad Santa (2003) ("SANTA maligno") - Juan Ritter desempeña el papel de un encargado de la alameda, en del día de fiesta de Terry Zwigoff. Billy Bob Thornton y de Bernie del mac estrella también en esta película, que planea abrirse en los teatros de noviembre el 26 de 2003. 

Man of the year   ("hombre del año")- un drama  El diagrama: Una noche durante la crisis de la electricidad de California, en un partido de la cena de las colinas de Beverly, las cosas impactantes suceden que alterarán irrevocablemente 24 vidas. El 12 de septiembre del 2003 el actor estadounidense John Ritter, protagonista de series y películas para televisión y cine, murió de forma inesperada a los 54 años por una embolia causada por un problema cardíaco que no había sido detectado con anterioridad
